# 59

Retirement planning. I actually did this about a month ago but I guess I forgot it was on my last. I started a 401K with work. They match what we put in up to 5% of our paycheck so it was kind of stupid that I didn't do this sooner. I have been here over a year and could have made a lot by now. I am not a huge gambler so I put it in stocks that weren't as risky but I am happy with my progress in the last month.
Trevor and I also got life insurance on each other in the past few months. Kind of weird. We both had a little bit of life insurance through work but not much.
I am so happy that we have started to prepare for our future though. The younger you start the better off you will be when you are older. I think that we are also going to start a mutual fund or another form of retirement in the coming months but I think we are doing pretty good so far.
Hope everyone is have a good week. I am off to my first night of class. Wish me luck!

Ashley's Bachelorette/Lingerie Shower

On Saturday night about twenty of us went to Cocina Superior for dinner for Ashlely's lingerie shower. It was so nice because they put us on the back deck and it was basically just us out there. We ate dinner which was great then we gave her our gifts. She got lots of nice and sexy little things.

We hung out there for a while then about half of us went out on the town. We went to a place called Rogue Tavern. We got there around 9:30 so we were actually able to get a big table right in the front. We had such a good time and I could tell Ashley did too. We watched a two man acoustic band first and then Rollin in the Hay. The second was much better than the first. I finally left around one just because I was so tired.

Only a few more days and she will be a MRS. I am so happy for them.

RN School # 3

Tuesday when I got in from work I checked the mail (as usual) and there was a letter from Lawson in it so I opened all of the rest of the mail first before I opened it. I am such a baby, I know. I was kind of nervous to open it but I did and it said CONGRATULATIONS in all caps so I knew it was good. I start school next week with orientation on Wednesday. I am really excited to get it over with but not looking forward to not having a life for the next year and not being able to cook for my husband on the week days for the next year either. I am going to try my best to work while I am in school we will see how that goes after the first semester. Please pray for me and Trevor because it is going to be hard.

Trevor's Poor Knee

On Tuesday night we went to Spain Park the way we always do for Trevor's softball game. It was the last Tuesday of the season and I was pretty pumped because the game was actually at a decent hour 6:30. If they won the 6:30 game they were supposed to play for the championship at 8:30. This is the only picture I was able to take while he was playing.

Trevor is the pitcher and in the second inning while he was pitching someone hit a line drive right into his knee cap. He fell to the ground and knowing my husband very well, I know he is not good with a lot of pain or blood so after he layed on the ground for a minute or so I went out to check on him. His knee was blue almost immediately. He is such a trooper he got up and hobbled around for a minute trying to walk it off and actually pitched the rest of the inning. After they came off the field someone brought me some ice to give him and he sat there for the rest of that inning with ice on it. He decided then that he would not be playing anymore that night. We stayed and watched the rest of the game and it was a really good one. It was close the whole time and they actually went into over-time. But his team lost by one. This is him icing the ole knee.

When we left the game we were trying to debate on going to the hospital or waiting until the next morning to go to urgent care or somewhere like that. After we got home he got out of the car and could not put any pressure on it so we thought we needed to go ahead and go to the ER. He took a quick shower with my help and we left. I had tried to call my friend Heather in the ER to see how busy they were because she is a nurse at Shelby (my old stomping ground) and to see what doctors were there before we left the ball field. But that didn't really matter because we had decided to go no matter what. While we were in triage at the hospital she called me back and I told her that we were there. She came directly up there and got us and put us in a room and ordered xrays. He got his xray done and it was quit funny because the xray tech was like, "wow you recently had surgery on your knee too". She said this because the softball laces were imprinted in his legs so much that it looked like he had just got stitches removed. After they returned to the room from xray they were both like WOW. She showed him the films because it was very visible that he broke his Patela (knee cap) vertically. The doctor came right in that I knew very well and began to ask Trevor if he needed to get me to step out of the room so he could show him other injury's and bruises I had caused. Not funny Andy. He sent us home with pain pills and a knee immobilizer and told us we needed to go to the orthopedic the next day so they could decide if they were going to do surgery or not. It pays to know people is all I have to say. We were signed in and out of the ER in one hour and they were actually busy.

Wednesday morning we went to the Ortho and they said he didn't need surgery but they put this awesome cast on him from his ankle to almost his hip. He has to wear this for 3 weeks then we go back in for more xrays and hopefully get a brace instead of another cast at that visit. He is using crutches and they said as soon as it doesn't hurt to put pressure on it he can walk on it. So he doesn't have to use his crutches the whole time.

The sucky thing is..it is his right knee so needless to say I am his driver for the next three weeks because he can't bend his leg to drive. I am just trying to be a good nurse to him.

So... on the 101 list my #1 was to watch Trevor in his first Triathlon that he has been getting ready for in June. We talked to the doctor about that while we were there and he said that was absolutely out of the question. So I guess we will just have to go and watch Justin do it without him. Pretty funny but Marcie and Justin had a bet going if Trevor would actually do it or not. So while we were sitting in the ER Tuesday night Trevor texted her and asked if she would still loose twenty dollars if he didn't due it due to an injury!!! She in turn didn't really know what was going on and told him to suck it up whatever it was, but after she realized what happened she felt really bad.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

On Saturday myself along with a few other ladies hosted a bridal shower for Ashley Daniel. Everything turned out wonderful. Next weekend is the Lingerie/Bachelorette party. We are going to Cocina Superior and then going out. Then the next weekend is the wedding. I am so happy that she found Jeremy. He seems to make her very happy.

Regions Charity Classic

This past Saturday we went out to Ross Bridge for the Regions Charity Classic. We had a lot of fun. Trevor's parents get tickets every year for the Regions tent. It is on the 18th hole. There is lots of food and drinks that are a free. The tent is so big they actually have stadium seating upstairs under the tent. We took our friends Sam and Joe with us. I was pretty bummed because all I brought in was my camera and my phone and because they could see my camera I had to check it at the front desk like a coat or something and didn't have it the whole time. We took a few pictures before we went in the gate though. Luckily Sam had her camera in her purse so we took some on her camera throughout the day. Here are a few pictures we took from the day.....

After I left Ross Bridge I met up with Ashley to watch some of her bridal portraits. I took a picture with her but I guess I will have to wait to post it for a few weeks until after the wedding. She looked very pretty and the pictures turned out great.

Apply Pie # 60

So I have really wanted to start making things from scratch because they are so good for one thing and another you can make things with less calories. For Mothers Day I knocked off another thing on my 101 list by making a homemade apple pie. I thought it turned out pretty good and my family thought the same way. Hope all the mommies out there had a wonderful day! Here is a picture of my pie!

# 28 Yay for Flowers!

Number 28 on my 101 list was to plant my spring flowers so this past Thursday Trevor borrowed the truck from work and we went to get my flowers to plant. Last year Trevor's mom Chris came over to help me plant but she was busy on Friday so I did it all by myself. I was pretty proud of myself. It was hard work doing it alone but I had fun doing it. It took me about three and a half hours to do it all. I absolutely love flowers so I plant a lot of them. I basically did the same thing this year as I did last year but added a few things. I hope they get as big and pretty as they did last year as well. Here are a few pictures.......

These are the cute new gardening gloves my mom had in my Easter basket along with a gift card to Myers, the best flower place ever.

I can't wait to build our back porch so I can plant some things out there that hopefully our dog will not mess with.

Week Recap

We had such a crazy week. This past weekend my great aunt died so we left early from work on Tuesday to go to her viewing/funeral in Jasper. On Wednesday we went out for Marcie's birthday. We went to eat at Iguana Grill and then went bowling at Oak Mountain. Of course when I went to take a picture on Wednesday I realized I forgot to put my memory card back in my camera, so that was awesome.

Photobucket

On Thursday we went to Sumo to eat dinner for Aaron Hosey's birthday. On Friday we went to a couples shower for my friend Laura Blaising and her soon to be hubby Josh. It was nice to see a lot of people there that I have not seen in a while. All in all pretty busy week. Starting back to our normal routine this week.

Crawfish Boil # 48

Saturday night we went to Matt Tatum's parents crawfish boil. We had so much fun hanging out with friends. There were a lot of people there that Trevor went to high school with so he had a good time catching up with them as well. We both love crawfish so we definitely ate our fair share of them. They were so good. Here are a few pictures from it......
